HELM Argentina, a global leader in crop protection with more than 120 years of experience and German technology, certified with the ISO 9001 standard for quality in its Integral Management System, closed an agreement with Terragene, a multinational company from Rosario leader in biotechnology to develop and commercialize products with smart microorganisms and biomolecules for crop protection.

These Protergium technology bio-inputs mark a breakthrough in innovation and operate by activating the plant's natural mechanisms against diseases and pests, while protecting yields and quality, and are entirely sustainable: they do not generate waste and also reduce carbon emissions.

"Our objective is to provide the agricultural producer with innovative and effective solutions that guarantee the performance of their production and at the same time contribute to caring for the environment," said Mauro Edalian, General Manager of HELM Argentina. “HELM Argentina leads the crop protection product segment and guarantees the early detection of new active ingredients for the development and updating of our product portfolio. The incorporation of biological inputs to our portfolio is a clear example of the firm commitment in the search for innovative and sustainable solutions that we have been pursuing for 120 years”, added the Manager.

For his part, Adrián Rovetto, founder of Protergium and Vice-president of Terragene, stated that “this alliance between Protergium and HELM is part of our innovation strategy and of our commitment to develop effective and sustainable biotechnological tools applied to revolutionize the ways of handling crops and to produce food”.

The first product, the result of this alliance, Innobio Protergium, will be available from the next soybean season 2021, after four years of development and more than 60 demonstration lots in the field, and it is expected to continue with the development of similar solutions for other crops. Innobio Protergium, is a seed treatment composed of consortia of a bacterium and a fungus (bacillusvelezensis and trichodermaharzianum) plus inoculant (Bradyrhizobiumjaponicum), unique in the market.

Since 2003, HELM Argentina leads the segment of products for crop protection, composed of Herbicides, Fungicides, Insecticides and Seed Treatment and has its own team of scientists, located in Germany and America, who invest their efforts in R&D of new products and formulations adapted to market needs.
